My neighbor got an arrangement of flowers recently, it was one of those hanging flower arrangements w/ cut flowers and today i saw him throw it out O_O i think it was only a day old, but the flowers were not in water so they had wilted. i'm not sure if he knew they could be removed from that green florist's block stuff. so i rescued it and put them in some water and we now have THREE lovely bouquets of flowers around the house.

We did our taxes today, pretty much broke even. I made a roasted tomato and red pepper soup* that we'll have w/ baked potatoes and a dollop of greek yogurt (plain) w/ green onions and a little fresh dill.

Yesterday we had french onion soup (just onions, low-sodium free-range organic chicken broth and paprika) and poached sockeye salmon w/ greek yogurt & fresh tarragon. also steamed some rice and greenbeans together in the steamer.

p.s. i'm "jolarockrolla" on http://www.myfitnesspal.com ... add me if you are using it ;p

*3-4 large ripe tomatoes, cored
2 red peppers
1 large onion, peeled and cut in half
3 cloves of garlic (unpeeled)
handful of basil leaves
Pacific Natural Foods - Organic Roasted Red Pepper & Tomato-Low Sodium

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Place in roasting pan: cored tomatoes, cut-side down, peppers (whole), onion halves, cut-side down, and cloves of garlic still peeled. Every 10 minutes turn the peppers and garlic. Remove garlic after 20 minutes, onions after 30 minutes. The tomatoes and peppers should char, usually takes 40 minutes or so. let everything cool, then remove tomato skins and pepper skins and remove seeds from peppers. Pulse in food processor with roastng juices until combined but still a little bit chunky. put in the pot with one or two cups of low sodium tomato soup, add pepper and torn basil to taste, bring to a simmer and serve.
